Secret 7 final crit

For the final crit we chose our two best designs and left out sheets for people to fill in evaluating them, this process helped to see how successful people thought our designs were and helped when writing the design inspiration for submission.

This is the first image that was critted. It was written about by Thea and Jack. They wrote...

Describe- The word 'YEAH' distorted, looks like digital distortion, interesting reflections. Looks scanned.

Interpret- The image is a distortion, it confuses your brain - like the digital world. It looks like a reflection but is actually a repetition. Looks like a disruption in a screen, could represent a brain wave or the mind.

Evaluate- Feel like its successful but we're not sure if its communicating something positive or negative because yeah is positive but the image and distortion is negative.

Theorise- Would be nice to see variations in colour. Could add TV noise or static.

I found these comments helpful and I quite like the contrast between negative and positive personally as its the same in video, the colours are bright and positive but everything is so orderly it seems cleansed and over-controlled so I think this element of the design shows the song well.

This next image was written about by Emma and Tom.

Describe- Hand holding a brain on a yellow background, very small brain is it real? Scattered on the hand looks gruesome adds shock value.

Interpret- Physical interpretation of the lyrics 'I want all of your mind', shock value, looks playful on the yellow background but its quite a vular image. The brain being small works really well as it looks like its saying technology is shrinking our brains.

Evaluate- Very successful and effectively shows the song - taking over our brains.

Theorise- Clearly solves the problem of communicating the song - like the fact its not digital, it's ambiguous and we prefer this to design 1.

This crit was not as helpful as other face to face ones but still good. It told me that the brain design is stronger than the type one in many ways. It also gave me some interesting words to use in my design inspiration.
