~ Collaborative practice - fortune favours the brave - publication design ~

This was an initial experiment for the cover of the publication that will guide the audience through learning the new skill (in this case book binding).

As the idea is for a monthly subscription the production of the packs would have to consider a reasonable price range.

The content for the book was easy to source as all the step by step instructions could be found within university. Jazz then produced the illustrations to clearly communicate the most effective way of binding the book.

The pattern from the main packaging design was continued onto the cover pages of the publication to create a coherent brand identity. Overall the design of the publication is as loose in terms of grids as possible and very simple to make it easy to reproduce similar versions as part of the series; it also allows a user to follow the instructions easily as possible. The design is also produced purely in grayscale... 1. this allows us to cheaply produce the publication using a laser printer, reducing personal costs and overall mass production costs for the product, 2. the book will be however printed onto red and blue coloured stock, this keeps the design bright, appealing and consistent throughout.

This is a photo of the finished publication; as you can see colour scheme was one of the strongest & boldest elements of the brand identity and this is emphasised with the use of coloured stock.
