~ blogging in 3rd person - logostarter deliverables ~

For this study task I am re-writing a previous blogpost in the third person to improve confidence in my work and writing voice.

This deliverable includes 2 formats of vinyl stickers to be applied in different ways as promotional material.

The larger sticker as displayed above can be used by the company to outwardly present themselves proudly and professionally. It can also be used by shops and establishments selling the product to advertise.

The stickers have been produced using matte black vinyl (using a vinyl cutter), the choice of black means the logo is applicable to most surfaces and backgrounds whilst maintaining visibility and a professional look.

The smaller circle stickers are multi-use, they can be used to seal packaging as promotion or a personal touch to the customers buying the product. Secondly the stickers could be given out as a promotional gift alongside free samples at events such as vegan food and freshers fairs.

The next deliverable is packaging, a key element branding for food products. The client gave specific measurements for the packaging to fit the ready meals. As a test to experiment with print methods the design was halved in size to reduce experimental production costs.

The G.F.Smith paper being unavailable currently the experiments were produced on a similar gsm matte stock. Initially the designs were printed (using inkjet printer) onto the matte stock but the colours and overall look wasn't as professional and high quality as similar products.

Printing onto gloss or silk could improve this but this can cause cracking in the ink and stock when folded which wouldn't be effective. To avoid this problem whilst still achieving the desired (more glossy) look the designs were laminated. The lamination brings the colours to life and strengthens the packaging giving it a more high quality feeling. This will show the customers what a high quality and worthwhile product it is and possible increase profit value.

To gain advice on which design is the most effective I held an online crit of the 3 designs.

Overall people prefered the 1st one, this is due to the amount of colour on the design as a lot of food packaging tends to be quite bland so in comparison this design would really stand out; so number 1 is the final design.

The final design is to be printed on Gmund Bier Weizen, 250gsm then laminated for the most effective and professional looking finish to the design.
